An Army Wife’s Lament
With tears in my eyes,
I let you depart.Having faith in God that you will arrive back,
unharmed.
I hear the news every dayHoping you are there somewhere clinging around.
Not a sole night passes by
when I have a sound sleep,
Judging, what could be my tomorrow without you.
It’s just a month that we walked down the aisleand now you are apart.
People tend to be pleased in their married lives,
but I appraise your first love will
always be your country.
Just be safe is what I hope and pray every day.Hoping God
will get hold of me before
he laid his hands over you.
I’m swollen with pride for you, undoubtedly but
Love is what makes me selfish for you.
